DeepSeek V4 Flash Presets for SillyTavern

DeepSeek V4 Flash Presets for SillyTavern

DeepSeek V4 Flash had a rocky launch, and I am not going to sugarcoat that. Community reports cited POV confusion, stereotypical RP output, and weak prompt adherence. The big wrinkle is that V4 ships with built-in RP instructions that actively fight custom presets, which is why it needs special handling. The good news: V4 Flash is “surprisingly good” per the community as of June 2026, and DeepSeek has committed to ongoing roleplay-specific tuning based on community feedback. The 1M context window and permanent 75% price reduction make it one of the most accessible frontier models for marathon sessions. Use V3.2 when you need reliability, V4 Flash when you need 1M context or cost.

Don’t run V4 naked. Three presets built around its quirks:

Freaky Frankenstein MAX+ / BOLT+ – the required first stop (DS4 Toggle Required)

MAX+ and BOLT+ were specifically updated on May 7, 2026 to make V4 perform well. The critical difference from V3.2 is the DS4 Freaky Deepy Toggle, which must be enabled when using V4. It injects anti-injection prompting that overrides DeepSeek’s internal RP instructions, which otherwise sabotage custom preset behavior. Without it, V4 will partially ignore your preset rules. With it, V4 performs significantly better. The FF author has explicitly tested this configuration on V4, and it’s the preset the community keeps coming back to for this model. DeepSeek V3.2 Presets

Megumin Suite V8 – DS4 variant

The suite ships a dedicated Megumin Suite V7 DS4 preset variant specifically for DeepSeek and GLM models. V8’s 700-token preset option is particularly useful for V4 since it reduces the prompt overhead that can fight V4’s built-in instructions. The NPC Dossier system in V8 helps with V4’s reported character consistency issues. If you’re a power user on V4 who wants the full Megumin suite (memory, NPC tracking, image gen) without wrestling with V4’s prompt compliance issues, start here.

Marinara’s Universal Preset (v10.0)

Link to Marinara’s here GLM 5.2 Presets

Works reliably on V4 with minimal configuration. Marinara lists DeepSeek V4 as a supported model, and the preset’s modular structure and adjustable sampler recommendations (temperature 0.6-0.7, reasoning OFF) apply directly to V4’s quirks. The lean token footprint also helps minimize conflict with V4’s internal instructions. Best used alongside the community’s NanoGPT “High Risk Content is Allowed.” workaround if you’re running through that provider. A low-friction universal preset for V4 and a good starting point before graduating to Freaky Frankenstein’s V4-specific tuning.
